Head of Post Production
Simon stepped into the film industry in his thirties after a successful career as an Internationally renowned classical guitarist, music producer and composer. Injury forced him to take a new path in his life and so embarked on years of retraining in all aspects of film production. The combination of his disciplines and creative vision has created an Editor with some of the most unique skills sets in the industry.
He has worked on music videos and concert films for the likes of ‘The Killers’ directed by Tim Burton; West Life; Robbie Williams; Kasabian; 2000FastWomen; Martin Taylor; Cherry Ghost directed by Maxine Peake.
Adventure docs for Sky; Britain’s Got Talent documentary for ITV2; Technical Consultant for Nazi documentary on Channel 5. Online Editor for numerous documentaries for the Discovery channel. He was also the main Editor for the current affairs documentaries at Aljazeera UK.
To satisfy his enjoyment of being on set, he also works as a Digital Imaging Technician with the top production companies in the country. He also offline edits some of these commercial on set. Over the past few years he has worked on over 100 commercials. He also works as a DIT on numerous features and Dramas. Recently he worked as DIT on Dramas for Channel 4 – ‘No Offence’, written by Paul Abbott and a BBC Comedy Drama, ‘From the Cradle to the Grave’, starring Peter Kay. Recent work as DIT and Grade Consultant include: ‘The Last Showing’, featuring Robert Englund and Keith Allen, and ‘Stabat Mater’, featuring John Hurt.
Feature Films and Shorts
He has edited numerous short films and Independent feature films. Over the past couple of years, the films he has edited and colour graded have all won International awards: ‘Girl Shaped Love Drug’ written and directed by Simon Powell – Winner of ‘Best International Dramatic Feature’ at the European Film Festival, Paris. This film also won 4 other awards at the ‘Tifin Festival’, India. ‘Hereafter’ written and Directed by Johnny Kenton – Winner of ‘Best Drama Pilot’ at the New York TV and Film Festival.
His most recent work has been as Editor and Colourist on a new feature called ‘The Caravan’, to be released in March 2015.
